Salt Lake City is a little different from most places I have
lived before (which include New York, Louisiana, Illinois, Alabama, California,
Alabama, Georgia, Colorado, Georgia, California, Idaho, Alabama, Arizona, and
now Utah). For example....In Arizona,
when it hits May, people just say...OK, I'm not going outside anymore for the
next 5 months. They will go from their
homes (with air conditioning), into the garage (some of those are air
conditioned too), into the car (and immediately turn on the AC). Next they will pull into the parking garage
at work (to avoid the sun), and quickly get inside as soon as possible (where
there is air conditioning). For almost
half the year, many people avoid going outside in order to avoid the heat. As a result, many people just stop being
physically active during the summers.
Here in SLC, I have been amazed by how many people are
outside, hiking and biking and swimming and running and exercising during the
summer...and then when it starts snowing, they say "Hooray, let’s go
skiing!" I have been so impressed
by the number of people who stay active and healthy here, no matter the
weather.
As the weather now starts turning warmer and the activities
change, there is one thing that doesn't change: YOUR BODY. No matter if you are skiing or swimming,
jogging or biking, the one constant is YOUR BODY.
